Seasons

We are formed by our parents, family members, friends, teachers, leaders, circumstances, past experiences and of course seasons. These summer days had me thinking on how our lives are very much like the seasons of the year. We grow and change from one season to the next.

We all experience ups and downs, failures, triumphs, sadness,  happiness and loss. Our lives don’t remain the same because our habits, perspectives change and we no longer do the same things. We take interest in other people, places and things. That's why I think it's important for us to make the most of every season.

God leads us through every season

> "For Everything there is a Season, and a Time for every Matter under heaven" Ecclesiastes 3:1

> "Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid or terrified of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you; He will never leave or forsake you" Deut 31:6

> "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" Jeremiah 29:11

Reading, studying and practicing God's word enables us to grow into the best of who He wants us to be. We often look at life as a struggle and this soon or later become our mindset. Instead, we should look at life as a collection of challenges and adventure. God is with us in every season and He will get us to where we need to go, if we are willing to move. Whatever the case, I'm aware that I need to cling to him more, especially when I'm frustrated by not fully being able to see the plans He has for me.

Stepping out in faith, acting upon it and building willpower to leave the old comforts and familiarities behind can help me see what He has in store for me. I am learning to appreciate where I am in my journey, even if it's not where I want to be. I strongly believe that every season serves its purpose because there are things that He wants to teach me in the current season that I can't learn in any other season.

New Season

A new season for you could play out in many ways. Like meeting new people or making new friends, committing to God and other relationships, taking risks or failing, making plans, moving forward, setbacks, getting married, a new place to live, a new baby, a new job, new traditions, habits and mindset, going places, traveling the world etc. Whichever the season, we need to be aware of the important changes we'll face because these will help form the way we'll live our lives.

Eleanor Roosevelt couldn't have said better: "Do one thing every day that scares you". I couldn't agree more. Why subject myself to fear when the world is full of great things waiting to be uncovered. So, I've decided to get out there and stop living like a mole. For even a mole finds its way to the end of the tunnel and comes up for some fresh air!

So, embrace the season your in, keep your eyes on God and not your circumstances. He's with you all the way.

XOXO, Niki
